A program for youth designed to develop leadership, team building, community involvement, healthy and active lifestyles and to prepare them for high school life, employment opportunities and social issues facing youth today. Weekly workshops such as: Creative ways to advocate, tobacco-free sports and recreation, industry marketing and media literacy, etc will be part of daily programming. A key component of our social development will be in partnership with West Toronto Services for Seniors ( WTSS ), where we will ‘bridge the generational gap’ between youth and senior citizens. By participating in a number of brain teaser activities, youth and seniors will be challenged to maintain mental fitness. Inter-gen / Brain Fit is in its 3rd year of operation at St. Alban’s.
Youth will build skills during ‘day trips’ as support for Summer Camp leaders, leading games and activities during down times and to help in transition areas. Youth will be responsible for facilitating weekly ‘hot dog day’ fundraisers for Summer Camp children. This involves taking orders, shopping, cooking, delivery and clean-up. Time and money management will be learned.

St Alban’s youth adventure camp includes a week of outdoor activities that provide plenty of opportunity to have fun, meet great new friends, learn, gain confidence and challenge yourself through exciting teen outdoor  activities. The week offers  a variety of exciting outdoor adventure activities ( rock climbing, backpacking, swimming, hiking, etc)  designed so teenagers develop a lifelong love for the outdoors and the life skills needed to succeed.

By the end of each session, youth will have a firm grasp of what it means to have self-esteem, self-respect and respect for others, strong community ties and will be equipped to handle more responsibilities.

Suitable attire for physical activity is expected from all participants.
