Summer break is just around the corner! We are winding down here at St. Alban’s with only 2 weeks left of school, but we are also gearing up for Summer Camp 2017! Spots are still available in our Sports and Variety Camps throughout the summer and there’s still time to register. Visit the Summer Camp webpage for more information and to register easily online!
But what do with the kids on the weekends? If you are looking for some great ways to keep the kids entertained on the weekends during the summer, why not check out some of the free events happening over the summer! Here is a short list of just some events to check out between now and the end of July:
- Open Tuning – June 10th
Open Tuning is a free music celebration in the Seaton Village area! St. Alban’s front yard will be turned into a stage where St. Alban’s Concert Band will perform, as well as various artists from the Inc. Sound Studio. Come check it out!
- Annex Festival on Bloor – June 11th
This annual free festival is a great way to welcome summer! There will be lots of kid friendly events and things to do, including face painting, skateboard lessons, live music and an interactive hockey net. The event takes over Bloor Street between Bathurst and Spadina.
- Healthy Moms T.O. Marketplace – June 11th
The event will feature outdoor activities for the whole family, including kids’ yoga and adventure playground, healthy food vendors and an indoor shopping experience, including a mini-farmers’ market with organic produce.
- Springridge Farm Food Truck Festival – June 17-18th
With over 12 food trucks, there’s bound to be something for everyone!
- ROM Free Admission Day – July 1st
In celebration of Canada 150, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is opening its doors to all visitors on Saturday, July 1, 2017 with free admission to the Museum’s permanent galleries and select special exhibitions.
- Canada Day Fireworks – July 1st
Celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary by watching some of the fireworks that will happen all across the city!
- Redpath Waterfront Festival – Just 1st-3rd
Why not drop by the waterfront and see a giant rubber duck? There will also be an artisan market and lots of activities for visitors of all ages.
- BIG on Bloor Festival – July 22nd
This outdoor pedestrian festival takes place between Bloor Street between Dufferin and Lansdowne. It has lots of original arts and culture programming while celebrating community and small businesses with over 200 participants.
- Distillery Sunday Market
The Distillery District is transformed into an open market every Sunday, featuring snacks and treats, preserves, honey, maple syrup, and artisan goods. All goods are made within 100 miles of the Distillery District!
- Pedestrian Sundays in Kensington Market
The streets of the Kensington area are shut down so visitors can enjoy outdoor vendors and performers.
- Family Sundays at the Gardiner Museum
The Gardiner Museum holds clay making and tile painting workshops for families every Sunday throughout the summer.
