Birthday Theme Day!

Everyone is finding creative ways of celebrating birthdays in quarantine! Here are some ideas and inspiration from the St. Alban’s preschool staff!

Birthday Memory Game with Foss

A birthday version of my favourite game called What’s Missing! Place birthday items in a bin at the table. (suggestions:  party hat, paper napkin, a paper plate, a candle, and a birthday card) One child removes one item and the other child guesses what is missing.

Today I have a birthday
I’m four years old, you see. (Hold up four fingers. )
And here I have a birthday cake
Which you may share with me. (Make circle with arms. )
First we count the candles,
Count them every one.
One, two, three, four  (Hold up fingers one by one. )
The counting now is done.
Let’s blow out the candles.
Out each flame will go.
Blow….., blow……, blow……, blow……,” (Pretend to blow out candles. )
As one by one we blow. (Bend down fingers one at a time as you blow.)

Streamer Art

–      Streamers (different colours)
–      Glue / glue stick
–      Scissors (tearing fingers)
–      Blank construction paper

–      Have your child either use scissors or tear the streamers
–      Glue the streamers on to the paper to create a birthday themed picture

Lego Fun – Block Cake

Provide your child with unit blocks and coloured blocks.  Encourage your child(ren) to build the tallest cake they can….and then knock it down (using their hands or cars!).

Party Balloon Volleyball Game

Tape a line across the middle of your play area.
Give your child(ren) balloons, or play with your child.
The goal is to kick or hit the balloons to the other side of the line!
If you can not use balloons due to ages of the children, use balls.
