If you have wondered about the new video monitor that is hanging in the foyer at St. Alban’s, it’s part of an exciting new program called St. Alban’s Youth Tube. We thank The Chris Bosh Foundation for generously funding this project. It includes youth from our 3 locations- St. Alban’s Boys and Girls Club, The Boys and Girls Club of Weston Mount Dennis, and The Jane and Finch Boys and Girls Club in the creation of a community-wide video magazine. This idea was based on the popular web/video sharing website, YouTube, which has become a prevalent mode of communication for youth. This magazine is updated regularly and broadcast on the monitors at St. Alban’s and through St. Alban’s website, on Facebook and on YouTube. The project electronically showcased the talents, activities, and events that engage our youth through streaming together video clips. It is a youth driven project that connects mentors and youth, encourages community involvement and teaches applicable arts and technical skills. The YouthTube program focuses on media literacy and understanding how the media we consume is produced, as well as to empower youth to create their own productions and develop their creativity.
