Preschool Program

Starting at 18 months

Our Program

Our mission is to promote and enrich the growth of the whole child through the provision of a safe, nurturing, stimulating and fun program.

Our philosophy here at BGC St. Alban's Club Preschool allows children to take an active part in their learning in all developmental areas. We believe in cultivating learning through play, as it gives children the opportunity to make choices within a safe and supportive learning environment. We strive to work together with parents and our community, as a team, to enrich and promote growth through age appropriate planned programming; and designing a curriculum around children’s observations and interests, through activities which support learning in the social/emotional, cognitive/fine motor, language/early reading readiness, creative, sensory and gross motor areas.

Our Program Statement details St. Alban’s Preschool’s approach to pedagogy and the early learning environment we offer children in our care.

BGC St. Alban's Club Preschool is licensed by the Ministry of Education and is assessed by the City of Toronto’s Quality Assessment. To see our rating, go to www.toronto.ca/children.

We accept families whose childcare fees are subsidized by the City of Toronto. Families receiving city fee assistance must comply with their agreements and eligibility requirements.

Our wait list is about two years long.

All families interested in registering their child at St. Alban’s Preschool, will be placed on a waiting list at no cost. Once a space (in the child’s age range/room) becomes available, the applicants on the waiting list will be contacted in order until the space has been filled, considering the child meets criteria to be eligible (age and the date space offered). Siblings of children already registered in care will be given priority; considering that the child meets the criteria (age and date space offered).

When the child care is contacted by families on the waiting list, to ascertain their position on the list, the supervisor can let families know an approximation of when they will be offered care in a manner that also maintains the privacy and confidentiality of the children listed on it.

Once a child has been offered a secured spot at in the child care centre, St. Alban’s may charge the fees for up to the first month of the child’s attendance, which is to be paid at the time of registration.
